68 Septante is a non profit-making association created in Brussels in 2004. Its aim is to promote, circulate and help in the creation of contemporary and audio-visual works both in Belgium and abroad. Since 2005 the association has been developing the planning and organisation of events activities in different types of places (cafes, bookshops, multidisciplinary complexes…). These events concentrate on the circulation and promotion of works in the visual and acoustic art field. This choice of work thus enables a new relationship with the work, the artist and a more lively approach for the viewer. At the same time and since 2006, 68 Septante has been involved in an independent DVD editor approach whose aim is to favour the visibility of contemporary works. These editions unfold following two areas organised in series: Electrons libres and VID (Very Important Documentary). The organisation of cultural events and the edition of DVD are conceived as tools of distribution and promotion, destined to favour an encounter between artistic propositions and the public. 68 Septante privileges original works, independents, who often refuse to meet formatting logic. Finally, the association brings support to artists and to members of the associative and cultural sector through partnerships, advice and specific performances.

The History of the band, since The Riot Girls Movement (90’s), to the band residency in Pulp, the legendary parisian club for girls (2000’s), and finally nowadays the work in studio and the tours in France. Through the portrait of Christine Guin, of her musicians and female performers,we discover several female caracters, passionated, free and committed in their work and their century.

The careful construction of the stretched stockings across the scenes of domestication, aims to raise questions upon the placement of the female role within contemporary society. The work references specifically the paradox between the sexualised and domesticated female identity. The use of stockings, take on organic forms that literally restrict the normal functioning of the spaces and appliances. Domestic appliances for which are associated with the upkeep of the home, traditionally the domain of the female.

The exhibition “Clin d’oeil” (Wink) by Océane Moussé is an invitation to contemplate and experience Time’s accumulation. Whether by its mode of realization, or by its spatial occupation, such a wandering, this work is the transcription of a systematic, obsessive activity, resulting in the work taking on an ambiguous and transitory quality. The fine treatment of the drawing, the compulsive covering of the paper’s surface, much like the shaping and folding, of the same objects, incites as much to recognise a subject as to introduce a process of accumulation. The limits of this process are dictated by the timing of the exhibition. This sensation of immensity, in space and time, is placed in tension by representing the subject in a reality that wastes away. The visible fantasy of the subjects is not alien to the sensation of wavering, or the absence of an anchorpoint to glean a rational and reasonable reading, they are the fruit of a mysterious organization of references, taking form on the paper and in the space.
“Clin d’oeil” the sense of which invites us to question the instantaneousness and permits us to see an exhibition that distends the fleetingness of this reality.

“Am 21.10.2004 habe ich mit diesem Projekt angefangen. Ich wollte etwas tun, das leicht fällt. Ich habe deshalb mit der Herstellung von collagierten Postkarten angefangen und immergleich behauptet, es ist alles druckreif. Ich habe Bilder und Material, einfach Zuerst war an diesem Projekt ein Verlag interessiert. Dann war ein Museum interessiert. Das Museum wurde umstrukturiert und machte eine Absage, weil von 2009 bis 2012 Teile des Museums saniert werden, weshalb der Technische Dienst entsprechend ausgelastet und nurmehr begrenzt für Ausstellungsarbeiten zur Verfügung stehe. Unter anderem. Kam inzu, dass der Kurator plötzlich auswandern und biologische Nützlinge züchten wollte. Ich wollte ihm dabei helfen. Zusätzlich wollt ich eine Koi-Karpfen-Zucht gründen. Oder mindestens Käufer für Koi-Karpfen Züchten. Und ich wollte in der Zwischenzeit auch eine Initiative für museumsfrei Ausstellungen ins Leben rufen.
Das Projekt funktioniert deshalb nun so : Ich mache solange daran weiter, bis das Projekt erscheint oder ausgestellt wird. Ich mache weiter mit totaler Masslosigkeit. Und man muss die Erschöpfungslaute zwischendruch gross herausstreichen. In der Zeit vom 13. bis 28. Februar verlege ich meinen Arbeitsplatz in die Räulichkeiten der Galerie -able. Mir wurde zugesichter, dass ich dort gut machen, besser machen, schlechter machen und nochmal machen und weiter machen und sehr gut machen, und noch mehr machen kann.”
Michael Stauffer wurde 1972 in Winterthur, im Kanton Zürich, geboren. Er lebt in der Schweiz und in Europa.
