} Programm :

Image, installation, video, sound, whileworking on each piece I endeavour to maintain simplicity in the treatment of the image, of the form, of the material, partial to things uncut, raw. I articulate forms which function individually, but which become especially meaningful in an ensemble. I could speak of what I propose as a reflection on a temporality, on a given space, by means of mobile or static forms. In each element (form, film, sound) I look for an obvious simplicity capable of summoning a certain humanity, using such themes as animals, children, song, constructions… by bringing to the fore the primary aspects of each element. But as I play with the idea of bringing out the humanity in each piece, I also bring out the grotesque, swaying between strong belief and light mockery. Once summoned and assembled, these elements recreate a space : the pieces embody a specific rythme and produce, individually and collectively, singularzones. Different spaces emanate from these zones, spaces full and in motion, spaces slowed down, or static, or stopped. The question of time which is touched on in each piece reveals the accelerations, decelerations and pauses which allow for new ways of circulating within the space. This also applies to the assembly of and the physical confrontation between pieces which are formally different. In this way, I try to develop a just tension, a fragile but tangible link between the elements of each proposition, to create through the articulation of the ensemble psychological and physical bridges, by reformulating the space and testing the limits of each proposal : pushing to the edge, where the balance threatens to tip. With a desire for radicality : to play with very little, with pieces that are borderline but essential, that could, if used in the wrong proportions, slide and become ponderous. And always keeping in mind the humour which is sometimes born of chaotic experiences.

Ausstellung vom 3. Oktober bis 25 Oktober 2008
Back before digital, taking a photo was a conscious action, reserved for special occasions (apparently there all special moments now). As a result we took photos because we were so, happy or because this is a moment to remember ! What Iam interested in, are these moments to remember. The example that always comes to my mind is “that’s me” on Santa’s knee ( but no it’s not, it’s some poor child blissfully unaware that he’s sitting on the knee of an alcoholic disguised as Father Xmas). I asked my friends for such old photos. Why has the past of my friends suddendly become important ? Simply we have come to know one another of the past few years and it is with them that I would build the possibilities that are our futures. The question is how can we conceive of going anywhere together, when we have come from cultures ( languages, climates, lifestyles and histories) that are so different ? We don’t have a common past, thanks be to God, but there needs to be some kind of understandings with regards to these disparate positions in order to produce possibilities of the future and that can only be found through dialogue.
For the exhibition in the -able Gallery, the idea is to construct a network of images (thus inspiring a narrative reading), that because of the absence of signification shall encourage the spectators to project themselves by questioning their subjective memories. Rather than highlight either similarity or difference between subjective souvenirs and their collective cultural identities, the work aims to deterritorialise these souvenirs (objects of identity creation) by giving the possibility of agencement to the spactator, leaving them with the ultimate power to reterritorialise. Simply put you’ve decide how to understand this. Is it like you or different ? How does it give you meaning ?”

Signers Koffer is a kind of road movie across Europa. From the swiss Alps to eastern Poland, from Stromboli to Iceland. Always following the scenary’s magically charged contours. Immersing yourself, letting yourself be infected, then travelling on. Roman Signer determines the route that we are moving on and the film improvises along the way. Being on the road also means tracking down the right places. Signer brings them alive using his own personel instruments, brilliantly simple operations full of subtle humour. “Simple” poems being transmitted into space with instruments a gunpowder, fuse, ubber boots, balloons, stool, small table… and a three wheelded Plaggio.
Signers Koffer is also a journey through the state of mind. A tightrope walk between fun and melancholy. Danger, also mental danger, becomes the stimulus of the senses. Sudden crashes, abrupt chagnes of mood determine the rythm and atmosphere of this cinematic journey.

Ausstellung vom 3. bis 28. September 2008
The domination of the body and its connection to the outer world.
The borders are destroyed, intersected, they have disappeared or are merged. The work shows that a frontier could be the place of separation or of contact. The work is about the (observed) contradictions in the perception of reality by the spectator. The drawings might surprise the spectator, as they do not always match his or her expectancy level. The use of suggestive motives appeals to the subconscious and plays with the fears and the projections of the spectator. He might experience a feeling of repugnancy, sexual excitement, joy, sadness or shame…

“After being the singer in an off-swing band, called Bohemian Crystal, for two years, I started to work on my own songs in september 2005. I used Phillicorda Organ and Dr. Groove drum machine and did my first live home recordings with a stereo mic on minidisc. My debut performance was on 4th of december 2005 for Goldmund Idylle gesucht ; PATHOS V, where Das Aphorma and me were djing, too. It was a lot of fun ! I played a lot of great shows and fantastic festivals like: 8 Jahre amSTARt, Maids of melancholy and mesmerization, Goldmund Festival II & III, Fusion Festival 07 & 08, Klangbad Festival. I did the first studio recordings at Bernd Jestram’s (Tarwater) studio in Berlin ( Resilienz EP ). Since october 2006 I’m also working with Jam Man Loop Station and a small (gameboyish) yamaha sequenzer. This gives me the possibillity to use different sounds and do weird stuff with my voice, though I’m looping it. With this new set up I recorded an EP called The Cure and an experimental ambient album called Scores & Spooky Outtakes. I also had a side project together with Milenasong, called Gabriela Martini, we played mostly improvised ambient shows and recorded an album called Whiskey the album. I also worked with Slow Learner, of Crack-up collective & the Signs fame. We recorded The Autopsy Demo as Nightwood and did some amazing live shows with The Nightwood Soundsystem. Since the beginning of 2007 I was invited to open the show for some great artists and bands. I played support shows for: Jarvis Cocker, Bracken, Tess Wiley, Rocko Schamoni & Little Machine, Damon & Naomi, Destructo Swarmbots and the wonderful Dälek. Thank you all so much. That was a lot of fun !”

Real Dance Super Sentai performance company proposes in berliner gallery -able two videos showing the dance work of Body Weather practitioners Frank Van de Ven and Oguri. Both were part in the 1990’s of Min Tanaka’s performance company Maijuku - then prolonged their experience into their own dance work, still sharing expressivity, radicality and a strong feeling of here and now.
art film by Nathalie Michel, with Frank Van de Ven 1998, 14′
A programme having been previously established for the order, duration and the intensity of each part in the different spaces, dancer Frank van de Ven explores and reacts organically to sonic, tactile, meteorological and visual elements of this old disabled factory. The editing respects the chronology of the shooting.
documentary by Morleigh Steinberg, with Oguri. 2008 - 70′

Prior to moving from Japan to America, acclaimed Butoh dancer Oguri had never seen a desert. When he encountered the unforgiving vastness of the California deserts, Oguri was inspired to undertake a four-year personal and artistic journey, during which he created more than fifty original site-specific dances within and around Joshua Tree National Park. Dancer, choreographer and filmmaker Morleigh Steinberg observes and documents Oguri as he explores the literal and psychic borderlands between the body and the landscape.

Often, She talks about dreams. Associations of pictures which have their origin secretly embedded somewhere else. A gallery of characters comes out of a disturbing world, creates a kind of personal and singular mythologie, giving those figures a chance to develop their own symbolism. I remember a sentence: ‘Mathilde et la chambre bleue’ (’Mathilde and the blue bedroom’) At first, there are the writings which seem, afterwards, to open up and take shape. The images and situations–detached from the original texts–stop the time-line for a while, assume their autonomy and drag us along parallel fictions. Everything is about impression. A way to make normal things unusual and to maintain this hesitation which persists after the first blink, when sleep withdraws, when perception is still a bit blurry, before everything takes its place again. Still, the track of a parallel life that we took part in remains, maybe… ‘Mathilde’; everything starts with a first name, nothing more, as if a perfect stranger suddenly enters the room… It seems that she is not here just by chance, but we maybe won’t know more…
